Oof. This is definitely a one and done trail for me! We did the Corte Madera Peak on sunday! First off, we got lost lol but once we found our way, we were ready to go! Clear skies and a gracious breeze. This trail definitely kicked our butt. A good portion was exposed so the sunlight came beaming down and there were several rocks to climb around and over and quite a bit of foliage growing into the trail. My knees were pretty weak near the end (but I have weakish knees anyway). I will say over all, a great learning experience and the view was well worth it!

  1. How was the drive there? We never made it to the trailhead because the drive was very sketchy . At First it was OKAY but then it turned to a SLIM one car dirt/paved road. Followed Siri’s directions but not sure if there is an easier way. Once we were about a mile from the trail head it was too muddy and we turned back to not chance getting stuck so far away from any help. The road we were on only fit one car at a time I chant imagine cars coming the opposite direction.

    1. It’s definitely a sketchy drive! We found the “safest” route was through Buckman Springs Rd. to Corral Canyon Tl. It’s a dirt road that passes a Naval warefare base. Relatively safe, flat road – it may still have pot holes so use a vehicle that can handle some dips. When you get towards the end of Corral Canyon Tl, there’s a small turnoff that many use as parking – we also parked there and used the entrance by Kernan Rd to start our hike. If you go any further than that then it gets to really dangerous road territories. We made the mistake of going further thinking the trailhead was beyond Kernan Rd and we ended up driving toward the lookout (so scary! never again!). I totally recommend going through Corral Canyon Tl. Hope this helps!

      1. Yes we made that right once we got to corral canyon and then eventually turned back because it got to dangerous! We weren’t sure if there was an easier route. Thank you for the information at least I know we were in the right direction! We will have to give it another try 🙂
