With a geocaching CITO (cache in, trash out) clean up event scheduled for 9 am at the summit, a relatively new multi-stage geocache with stages all along the Mt. Umunhum Trail from Bald Mountain to the summit, and this Six-Pack Challenge, I had plenty of motivation to get up early this morning and over to Bald Mountain for the third 2022 Six-Pack peak. This one was the easiest so far (the others in the series that I have done are Mt. Sizer and Rose Peak), both from a hiking perspective, and in the ease of getting to the trailhead from my house. That said, the Mt. Umunhum hike is a Bay Area classic, with great views that keep getting better as you climb, an excellent, well-graded trail, an lots of interesting sign boards and other information up on the top.

I started my day at the Bald Mountain parking lot, arriving early enough to secure one of the prize parking spots there. On the way up, I generally ran, stopping to geocache and collect information for geocaches. Once on top I joined the geocaching group for about an hour of site cleanup. Then ran back down the trail, with an extra jaunt down (and then back up) Barlow Road. And still was home in time for lunch.
