Started hiking just at sunrise ~6.30am. Was pretty chilly out there, so layers played a key role all the way to the top. The first ~400 ft elevationsspans 2.5 miles but the last ~1400 ft in ~1.2 miles is fun and what makes this hike a moderate one. Its mostly rock scrambles from there all the way to the top. Spotty snow at some places but its almost like nothing. Hiking poles and good hiking shoes give the upper edge definitely. Prestine views all along of snow capped Mt. Baldy, Mt. Wilson and downtown Pasadena. Just the perfect weather to do this hike. Carry lots of water. Took us ~2.5 hrs to the top and ~1.5 hrs down. Spent like ~1 hr at the top. Were done with the hike by 1pm. And yes make sure you hang your adventure/national park pass properly in your car so that you do not get cited. There is the Haramokngna American Indian Cultural Center near the parking lot that sells adventure pass if required but they are open 10am to 6pm only on Saturday and Sunday. They strictly do check it. All in all a very beautiful day.
