The trail starts off with a nice gradual incline to get you warmed up before the real elevation climb starts. Once you hike past the Agave roasting pits and up through wash you’ll gradually stay to your right and up you go!
The trail is well marked with signs and markings on the rocks. If you tend to hike with your head down it is possible you can miss a marker and get off trail. Once you accomplish navigating the trail to the saddle it’s all uphill after that.
Once you hit the saddle you’ll be able to pick your route up to Turtlehead Peak. There are three distinct trails that all head up to the peak. Please refer back to All Trails or Gaia. If you use the topo function on these apps you’ll be able to read which route will work best for you.
Remember to stay hydrated and take enough time at the top to eat a snack. This will definitely help you on the descent.
