Well, this hike was a combination of trails. It began with Coldstream because the Park Ranger at Paso Picacho encouraged me to park 1 mile down the road to offset the $10 parking fee. So, I listened to him. I crossed the street and entered the campground site. I spoke to another ranger and got a handout. Azalea was a good trailhead, but it seemed to just circle around back to the campground. I remembered the ranger pointed southwest from camp to where the peak was located. These dirt trails were not Lookout or Azalea. After speaking to other hikers, it became that the access road would connect me to the peak. I worked through the steep, curvy road and reached the peak in less than 2 1/2 hours!! I even found the sign hidden up on the hillside by the satellite towers. It was an exhilarating journey. The views were rewarding!! It doesn't matter. Access road or trail, I made it to the top! This was done 6 days after running in the Hot Chocolate 15k last Sunday. I'm feeling good! Up next, either High Point or Hot Springs. Bring it on!
