We started before 6 am from Manker Flats. It was nice and cool and only two other cars before us. Getting to the ski hut was enjoyable. Took a quick break and started towards the summit. Sun was out but a light wind was actually helpful. Few patches of snow here and there, easily avoidable or can be passed with just hiking poles. The trail to the summit is definitely steep. We took many short breaks and enjoyed the amazing views of the neighboring mountains. The last .3 mile is kind of confusing but as long as you go towards the top you are good. Yes, it was windy on top. After short break we decided to come back the same way. Devils Backbone gets really crowded with many hikers coming up from the notch. It was intense for the 1st half but once back at the ski hut it was smooth sailing. Very few people on the trail, enjoyed nice chats with very friendly hikers.
