Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

Whew what a steep hike! We were on a time crunch and tried to summit as quick as we could. Once the Marion Mountain trail ended though at the top, the snow started, and navigating the last couple miles to the peak was very difficult. It was hard to see the trail and/or the footprints in the snow, so it took us quite a while and a lot of checking our All Trails GPS position. But we made it!

On the way down we passed several groups who were also having difficulty finding the trail. It was slightly easier on the way down and we just basically followed footprints (sliding marks) where people had bushwhacked down before us. We clocked 12.9 miles with roughly 6.5 hours of active hiking time. Started at 7am and we were back at the car by 2:00pm! Very tough, but very rewarding.
