Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain: April 23rd, 2022

We started our way up to summit Welch Mount and Dickey Mountain in Thornton, NH via the Welch-Dickey Loop Trail. This was our First Summit of Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain for the Six Pack of Peaks: New England Challenge, Fifth Peak for my partner and my Sixth Peak for 2022.

It was a beautiful, cool, and sunny day. Trail had some wet, and muddy spots. At higher elevations the trail had some ice in some spots but for the most part we had a very dry trail. We used hiked in boots for this hike. When nearing summit we felt cool breezes which had helped us to not overheat. Along the counter clockwise route nearing summit we started to get views and welcomed to 360 views at the summits.

We were at the summit for a little bit to take some pictures and our summit photo ops. We hung out taking in the views and taken many pics of peaks around us. Then continued on with our counter clockwise route and down to the Trailhead.

It was definitely a challenging hike going up the harder sections up Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain. Trail offered some good rock scrambles and overall it was an amazing experience.

Definitely recommend this hike to others and worth the trip but one needs to be prepared.
