Started 06:30 on Beautiful Saturday but glad I decided to bring a windbreaker at the last minute. It was very windy in spots past the Manzanita Flats. This is my second attempt. The first time I didn’t feel well and turnaround after about 2 miles of going up. A tip there is a Starbucks a couple miles before the trailhead in Redlands where you could stop and get coffee and use a clean restroom. Saw a couple people that looked like hikers there as well. This was a long hike over 10 hours. My injured knee started acting up on the way down. The trail is mostly smooth and with my hurting knee glad I didn’t have to step down over many rocks. Steady incline pretty much except a nice break for about 1 mile at Manzanita Flats. Another Tip the parking could be rough on a nice car since its off-road. I recommend a Jeep or a truck if you can.
