The trail is well maintained and easy to follow. It was a little bit buggy but not too bad. It was cloudy at 6am, and clear and windy at the summit. There were lots of flowers along the trail and the tree coverage was beautiful. I can see how this trail is an excellent course for trail runners. On the way down, the last 3 miles is fully exposed with no tree coverage. So the sun was beating down. Make sure to wear a hat, sunglasses, and wear sunscreen. The ascend was a total butt kicker with over 5,000 ft of elevation gain for 8 miles. Alltrails said the total mileage is 14.5 miles, but I logged 15.7 miles.
