Other than fighting for a parking spot at the trailhead with the crowds in Sedona for the weekend, this trail was easy to follow and fun to hike. The first 1 1/2 miles is a steady uphill grind, but the views in the canyon are pretty and the shade is awesome. Then you reach a plateau that flattens out for about another mile before you reach the sign to go up again! The summit sign is not very exciting and we continued to the north lookout before realizing the BEAUTIFUL view is the Sedona overlook on the other side of the sign in the opposite direction. So, once we backtracked and went to the Sedona overlook……we were so happy to see this view !!! Ahhh but be very careful of the drop off here! Pictures do not do this view justice. It’s worth a long snack break !
