We started this hike still a little sore from the last one. At first it was a gradual uphill walk in the woods that finally turned into some serious rock scrambling which both the dog and I enjoyed. I heard that it would be best to take Dean to Long Trail up because it's so steep it'd be hard to go down…and they were right! I'd hate to try and go down that part, especially with a dog in tow. It was a fun climb up though and we were pleasantly surprised by a private pool at the top!
I couldn't find any marked trailheads for the way back down so I asked the others who had made it to the summit. (Not the best idea). Since three different people pointed me in the same direction for Monroe Trail, I took it, even though it didn't seem like it headed in the correct direction. Lesson learned. I should've kept looking for what I felt was the right trailhead. Oh well. Once we reached the parking lot, the wrong parking lot, we just had to take the connector trail back up part of the mountain and back down and over to the correct one. We added a few more miles and a couple more hours, but it's nothing we haven't done before.
Total hike time including oopsie = 6.5 hours
