This was my roommate and I's first of the big 6 peaks this year and my first hike of that length and magnitude. I've hiked my whole life and was in moderate shape at the time and it was BRUTAL. The way up is uphill for almost the entire time and we got slightly lost towards the top which was not so fun when you're that tired. The views and picnic tables at the top provided much needed respite however and absolutely made the journey worth it. We went on a Wednesday which meant it was pretty empty. We rested for a bit, taking in the moment and napping on the picnic tables. The downhill wasn't horrible and was much faster, but it was VERY hard on the knees without poles. Overall it was a great and rewarding experience and I'm thankful we got one of the harder climbs out of the way early on! Trail has plenty of parking, is well maintained, and just trafficked enough to feel safe without being overcrowded.
