My hiking partner, Jane W., and I decided my two grandsons, Scott (11) and Luke (9), were ready for their first Peak.  Since Jane and I had done Fletcher Peak before, we thought it would be a good one for them.  It was a challenge for the boys, but they never complained, even when they were suffering a little altitude sickness.  We made sure to rest and hydrate.  I was very proud of the boys and really didn't realize until later how much of an accomplishment it was for two young kids.  What kept them going was the desire to see the ammo box and sign the two new logs they brought with them, since we were aware the existing logs were full.
