Geting to the San Bernardino Sand to Snow trailhead was easy, at 6 am on Oct 1st no problem with parking. Obtaining permit was not an issue. I wasn't sure what condition the trail would be in after the fire. Yes, the devastation is visible and kind of eerie but new life is peeking through. The trail itself is defined and easy to follow. The trail starts with series of switchbacks and after about 3 miles levels off for a nice break. After the manzanita flats the trail starts going up again. You will be rewarded with nice views along the way. About 7.2 miles into it there is a stone bench which makes an amazing spot for a break with increadible views. Another mile or so and you are are the peak. Perfect weather made it for wonderful time on the trail. Meeting other SoCal hikers was a bonus. 16.5 miles, 4,799 elev gain, 7.5 hours moving time.
