With some Fall weather finally here, we decided it was time to tackle Mt. Baldy. We started our hike around 9am making our way toward the Ski Lodge first. Our German Shepherd, Atlas, was loving the cool weather. We made good time to the lodge and stopped for a quick snack. From here, we continued over to Devils Backbone. This quickly had our legs on fire but we continued on.

Towards the top of the backbone the wind began to pick up drastically. The cool wind was actually welcomed as we had began to generate a lot of body heat from the steep climb. We slowly continued and eventually reached the top. We gathered for a few photos and proceeded on down the trail for a good lunch spot out of the wind. The PB&Js really hit the spot after a long hike! After our quick lunch break we started on down.

The long hike thus far was really taking its toll on our knees. While we are often ready for some downhill, the impact quickly gets to you. This section of trail was also very steep and loose to add to the suspense. We slowly continued and eventually reached the ski hut for a quick break. We knew we didn't have much further but our legs felt like they might give out at any point. Meanwhile, our Dog kept looking back like “Come on guys! What's the hold up!?”.

Finally, we reached the road and made our way on down to the car. We got back to the car around 5pm. All in all in was incredible hike with amazing views above the clouds.
