Finished 5/6 of the original So Cal 6 pack of peaks and Mt. Baden-Powell to train for Mt Whitney (Sept 2022). Really wanted to finish the original So Cal 6 pack, so went through with completing San Bernadino in Oct.

After completing all 6, I feel that San Berdoo is the easiest one for the following reasons: Most of it is a flat dirt trail with very few areas of loose rocks/stone steps. Although others warn of constant uphill, the incline grade is low/very gradual and there are still lots of flat areas along the way. It seems that the longer distance and elevation gain make this “hard”. San Gorgonio is only 2 miles longer, but extremely more difficult in my opinion. Only saw 2 people camping at Limber Pine and there was a small water source a little further up the trail (light running water, maybe not the most reliable).

Although much of the trees are burned, there are still great views right off the bat. For the same reason, would be better to hike this on a day where there will be cloud cover as it's mostly exposed. Took a risk to hike this trail when there was light rain and high winds (30-45mph) in the forecast.  At the lookout point ~1 mile from the summit, did not get the views of the IE, but had an incredible layer of clouds which made for surreal photos. Made it up to the summit in good weather, but after heading down the clouds began to roll in. The clouds and winds blasted through the mountains on the way down turning the burnt landscape into something from Sleepy Hollow or the Upside Down. Although a cold wet miserable descent, also made some good visuals for photo/video. So be prepared with many layers and start this hike early!
