The hike to Sawmill Mountain has the least elevation gain among the 12 peaks in the SoCal Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. Also, the hike starts at above 8000 feet so it doesn’t require much of climbing. However, it rewards hikers with plenty of great views with its multiple viewpoints along the trail. The summit of Mt Pinos, the Condor Observation Point and the summit of Sawmill Mountain all provide varying unobstructed panoramic views. Or you can take a detour to the ridge just before Mt Pinos or you can stop by the impressive viewpoint just before you go down Vincent Tumamait for the final 1.5 mile mile to Sawmill Mountain for more spectacular views.
