Went up Sitton Peak the usual way, but on the way back, decided to try going down the *far* side of the peak, i.e., down the western side. Technically, there *is* a trail out there, and clearly so right at the beginning, but after that it comes and goes and becomes easy to lose. To be fair, there is likely a trail there, but the plant life is thick enough that if you miss a bend, it's hard to find it again. Anyway, it is possible to go down the western side and eventually rejoin with Sitton Peak Truck Trail, and there are clues that this was once likely an official trail, but if you're going to try it, be prepared for getting poked a lot!

Besides the bushwacking down the western side of Sitton Peak, the only other big decision in this hike was whether to take Bear Canyon or Bear Ridge. Bear Canyon is nicer, flatter and smoother, and has nice shaded bits and passes a couple of interesting groves. Bear Ridge goes up the ridge so has more climbing, and from the top of the ridge there are some nice expansive views. Since the scenery is nice on both, I would either choose the one that I haven't hiked recently, or go with the Ridge if I want to work the legs a bit more.
