Heavy rains the day before left mud on the flats—small patches of snow visible above 4,500 ft. A few spots in the shade of the trees had iced over mud—lots of hikers and dogs were coming down from the morning. Head up at noon. The peak is not visible at the trailhead, covered in clouds. The last half mile at the top was very windy and icy. Look out for icy puddles. Overall, the conditions were good. I should have actually brought hiking gear but succeeded in sneakers and a hoodie. Round trip 2 hrs if you stop to enjoy the limited visibility of Julian and Anza. It's a fun 1,400’ ascent up if you stay on the fire road. But I would like to recommend the side Oak trail in Spring and Fall.
