So I have been trying to post this using the app on my phone since that is where my pictures are.

However, the app keeps adding spaces in, about 30 at a time, jumps the cursor around in my write up, and sometimes tells me I am not authorized to post a log. Something seriously wrong with the app.

Trail is hard packed snow, slippery like ice, in spots as it has melted and then refroze. Some liquid slippery mud and some frozen mud as well. One large tree on main tail that isn't hard to navigate but has some frozen ground under it so watch your step.

I watched some of the Social Hiker videos and decided to pick up some Trekking poles. What a great thing to have as most of the hard pack ice like areas were always on a steep grade. Saved my butt a few times. I watched the video to understand on how to use them as well, if I had not, I would not have used them correctly. Great gear to have for me. Knowing it was going to be cold, I layered up and had my camelbak back pack with room to stow gear as the layers came off. Took a layer off going up, put that layer and gloves on for the decent. Mid to low 30's at the peak and nice wind sheltered picnic table to relax and have a snack.

On the ascent, I took the Five Oaks Trail. Then took the main path on the return. Great side trail and easier to pass than the main due to the above conditions.

My garmin tracked 5.66, my phone tracked 6.37, that's a big difference. Give the trail is about 5.1 and I took the side trail adding .4, the 5.66 from the truck and back is more accurate.
