It was chilly 34 when i started at 8 am. Nobody at the gate to collect the $10 for parking but now they have an option to pay with credit card.
Took lookout trail, no snow till about 1.5 mile in. I put microspikes on and took off some layers. Occasional gusty winds were the biggest nuisance. The snow was crunchy and icy but no issues with microspikes or/and poles. At the top beautiful views in all directions. Wonderful to see water in the Cuyamaca Lake again. Did not see any signs at the top today. After 15 minutes breakfast went down the same way. By the time i got back to my car it was 43 degrees. As always, on the way home i stopped in Julian to get a pie 🙂
Happy hiking!
