Hike 1 in the books! Fremont Saddle
Also on this hike
Beautiful hike! Sunny and in high 50’s. Running creeks and streams, mild muddy spots, easy to navigate. Saw a couple of ice and snow patches. It was a busy trail but not overcrowded.
I would rate Fremont Saddle trail up to Weavers Needle as an easy-moderate trail. We took an extra hike over to a lookout area with a lonely tree. This had even more stunning views.
Our group was feeling adventurous and hiked back to the TH via Trails 234 (Terrapin) and 235 (Bluff Spring). These trails are east and run parallel to Fremont Saddle. I would definitely rate these as difficult. It was difficult to track the trail at times – look for the cairns. We had to scramble and ‘crab walk’ down multiple descents. It was more rocky and had more uneven terrain than Fremont Saddle. I would not recommend these 2 trails for beginner hikers. Returning back via these trails definitely added time to our overall hike time. But again, beautiful scenery.
