My first Six Pack of Peak Hike.  At the summit of Vulcan Mountain I met Challenger 199.  On the way up, I took the left trail.  It had intermittent short patches of snow and mud but was easy to navigate.  It's about 1.5 miles up until the trail flattens for a distance.  The ret of the climb is more gentle.  More snow on the way to the summit, again, easy to navigate.  Beautiful views of the San Diego mountains on both the left and right sides of the trail.  At the summit, I put on a light fleece jacket.  On the descent, I took the single track, Five Oaks Trail.  No snow on this trail and many switch backs making for a smother descent.  When I return to Vulcan Mountain, I'll take Five Oaks trail on the ascent.
