Okay, y'all. Twenty-one years ago my YOLO* gals and I trained to climb Mount Whitney.  We happened to climb all the six summits as part of our training. So, when I saw this challenge – I thought why not get the band back together? In those 21 years, our group has had one open heart surgery, one was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, one gained, shall we say, a few pounds, and we all pushed through menopause.

Sitton Peak seemed like a good starter hike since it was relatively close and short. But – HOLY CRAP – that last half a mile to the peak! Steep, rutted, slippery small rocks, and, me without a walking stick – yikes. We persevered. To the top and fabulous views were enjoyed by all.

Note to self: Clip toenails before next hike, double check trail head location so there isn't another “bonus hike,” and find that walking stick!

* In 2001 – YOLO wasn't a thing. We should have trademarked it.
