I debated doing this hike since November, but really glad I did. This really is a hidden gem of a hike and Quartz Peak is such a unique feature. There are a couple of spots where the trail is eroding and it's easy to lose the trail at the top while bouldering. Just follow the cairns! Overall the trail was pretty good. It's a thigh burner going up, but the peak is awesome! It was super windy up on top, awesome views, the quartz was cold, and kind of resembles a glacier.

The road in is rough and sandy and I recommend an truck or SUV (anything with high clearance). I did see a Honda Fit made it though. There is a bathroom at the trailhead. Wear good shoes, brings plenty of water, and plan for 4-5 hours. The weather was great, but it's warming up fast and I recommend getting an early start to beat the heat.
