This was the sixth hike of the series for 2023 … been somewhat limited this season due to work schedule and weather. Managed to get a nice morning to start Mt Umunhum. 8 am start with nice clear weather, which has been a bit rare thus far this year — this was probably only the second or third weekend where we had Saturday and Sunday both rain free. The trail here is probably in the best shape of all of the Bay Area Six Pack trails — fairly well engineered, and still pretty new. There were a couple of muddy spots, but overall everything was in good shape. No downed trees, which I've encountered on a number of trails this year (we had two really big trees right across the street from us fall within a couple days of each other at the start of the year). Nice run to the top, and got a couple of pics … including a photo looking toward Black Mountain, where a couple of my friends were running at the same time.
This time, I added a little bit extra by heading out to Bald Mountain. It's not much of a prominence, but was able to look down over the Almaden Reservoir from there.
So … I guess I can wear the Six Pack shirt again this year.
