Beautiful day after previous plans were rained and/or snowed out. Post rained out days created a thick carpet of green, local shrubbery, purple wildflowers, red barked manzanita and a babbling brook. Unusual for the normally dry back country. Clear blue sky and beautiful view of the so-cal version of half-dome. Windy at the peak. A few sugar pines still remain from the wood gathering to build the missions so long ago. Hard to imagine coming up there, chopping down the wood, then hauling the wood down for the building. Clearly a hearty folk from a bygone era. Hike was steep enough to cause pause traversing back down the ravine. Hike was rewarded with burgers, fries, and brew the Pine Valley Frosty Burgers permitted for weary hikers.
