Back in SoCal for a few days to spend Mother’s Day with my mom, so we decided to take on what seemed to be the easiest hike of the Southern California challenge.  We soon found out that it did not mean it would be an easy hike!

There are still sections that are a bit overgrown and some stretches that still have ruts and storm damage from this past winter.  The last half mile or so includes both, along with a little bit of scrambling.  Add in upper 70’s and very sunny, this was quite the workout!

There are still lots and lots of wildflowers, as well as butterflies, bees and other bugs.  The creek is still flowing, albeit very calmly. I wouldn’t count on it for hydration for too much longer, but you can definitely help out the candy store and buy some refreshments from them if you need to.  They also sell adventure passes, which you would need to park in the lot across the street, unless you have a parks pass.  There is also a restroom in the parking lot, but after that, just bushes and trees and rocks!
