Knocked out my third hike of the challenge, will try to knock out three more when I return in the fall!😃
Started at 6am and did not see a single person until I got back to my car around 945!  I probably could’ve finished the hike in closer to 3 hours, but I was having too much fun shooting pictures and videos and enjoying the scenery.
The last mile or so was pretty hard and I got tricked by a couple false summits on the way up. Â I almost got turned around at a couple junctions because there were no signs and my gps was acting up, but it recovered just in time to prevent me from taking the wrong turn. Â The stretch of trail along the second mile gets pretty narrow and has broke off in a couple points, but it is still very safe and doable. Â Just take your time and pay attention to your footing!
Lots of bugs in sections, including bees, mosquitoes, flies, butterflies and ticks. Â I knocked one off my hand before it latched on. Â Be sure to check yourself often.
Roadsigns mentioned a closure at Redbox and no parking available, but the closure was after the trailhead, so there was plenty of parking. Â There is ongoing construction, though, so it could change. Â Also, make sure to bring an adventure pass or parks pass to park out there.
