I started the trail mid morning which was kind of a mistake, I should have started much earlier. It was already pretty hot by the time I started. I went through all 2L of water by the time I got back.
The trail was extremely well marked and had no problems following it. It was a weekend so it's $10 to park and there were a handful of people out on the trail. There are bathrooms right at the beginning of the trail which is always nice. The potato chip rock had quite a few people waiting to take a photo, so if you go up there wanting to snap a shot I'd suggest during the week instead.
The trial is a mix of dirt paths, service roads, and lots of steps. I'd recommend this hike to really anyone of any hiking ability because you can go as far as you like and will still see great views of the lake and surrounding mountains and terrain. Even mid day I was able to find some boulders/shade to rest under the get a snack and take a break.
This is a super nice and fun trail with the added benefit of hitting a destination marker like the potato chip rock.
