Was accompanied by the same 2 partners that completed the San Diego Challenge with me last year.
We decided to alternate Sitton in place of Mt. San Jacinto since we had all hiked Jacinto multiple times before.
Beautiful hike. Lots of wildflowers in bloom. A lot of variety to the terrain – there's a small creek crossing, some of the trail is shaded, some of it's smooth, some rocky, some rutted, the last section to the summit is very steep.
It started overcast and pleasant but definitely heated up when the sun poked through.
I can see this hike being a bit of a sweat during the hot summer months.
There's still a tad bit of overgrowth. Spotted poison oak in a couple spots.
Bugs were pretty bad the most of the way. 1 of us had a bug net, 1 bought 1 since the hike and the other (me) is planning on buying 1 before our next hike. 🙂 My meshed trucker hat did the trick over my face in a pinch but it wouldn't stay w/o my hand holding it in place.
Not clear enough to get the view of Catalina on the summit but was able to see Jacinto sitting amongst the clouds to the East.
Very pleasant, easy (except for the summit section), scenic hike that we were all glad we did!
