I DID IT! Despite Mother Nature herself throwing every possible curveball my way at every turn, I still managed to defy the odds and accomplish my goal of completing all 11 peaks in two weeks.

It may have been a very tense couple of weeks hoping the weather would be on my side, but I’m still super proud I was able to push through even some of the rough conditions, scale some of the hardest mountains out there and most importantly, never gave up!

Mt. Katahdin is usually where people end their journey of hiking the Appalachian Trail, and this peak was certainly the end of a journey for me too.

I should note that I unfortunately could not do the Hamlin Peak Loop, most of the trails leading to the peak on that loop like the Knife’s Edge Trail were closed today. So my only option was to climb to the summit from the west, so I chose to do an out-and-back via the Abol Trail which from the looks of it, seems a tad easier than the Hamlin Peak Loop, but only a tad. This was still a very difficult hike with all the kind of obstacles I’ve come to expect. I wish I could of hiked the route given but I was told that couldn’t be done, so there’s not much I can do about that.

Never the less, I still found an alternative, climbed to the top and officially accomplished my goal and I couldn’t be prouder.

Thank you to Social Hiker for creating this challenge that inspired me to do this trip in the first place. Thank you to my mom for introducing me to this challenge, and thank you to the rest of my family and friends for supporting me.

I can’t wait to see what other adventures lie ahead. Until next time, this is Oslo Schaller, over and out! ✌️
