I arrived in Tahoe last night so I was not acclimated to the higher elevation. I took my time because I had read the Alltrails reviews and was prepared for the snow, waterfalls on the trails, blow downs, bugs etc. The snow was soft and slippery, no post-holing but some breakthroughs if you got too close to the rocks. Several people were following tracks up the wrong way, so I called and redirected them. Plenty of hikers in tennis shoes with little to no gear. Always makes me wonder. Pretty normal conditions for me doing Tallac in the early season. There are times I prefer Tallac in the Winter! It was a gorgeous blue sky day with faint winds. The views into Desolation were phenomenal. The Velmas were melted out while Gilmore and Heather were showing some blue water. Aloha is totally white still. Dick's Peak had snow on the ridge, Pyramid was snow-covered as was Ralston. Freel is melting out 🙂 Tomorrow I hope to tag Maggies Peak but also considering Mt Baldy. Feeling good on the trail again. Gaia track. Some on trail and some off route. Glad I know the area.
