I moved from Michigan to San Bernardino in 1998 but today was my first time hiking the mountain. Too bad because I really wish I would have hiked it before the El Dorado fire. The amount of damage from that fire visible along the trail is difficult to quantify. One tree after another dead. Incredibly sad. Even with all the fire damage it is an enjoyable hike and the views along the trail and at the peak are amazing. The trail is really well designed and maintained. It never gets overly steep, is easy to follow and has good footing. Again, I wish I would have done this hike sooner.
