Trailhead:

Windy GapbTrailhead

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Minor obstacles posing few problems

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Started at the trail around 0745 this morning.  Enough parking spots just below the Windy Gap Trailhead by Crystal Lake off of Highway 39. If you are looking for some good exercise thus is the hike to do it. I clocked 16.43 miles in about 10 hours total and about 9 hours moving. Took me 6 hours to get up and 4 to get down. Definitely underestimated the climb of 4600 feet gain lol. But better to go slow to live then to hurry to hurt yourself or even something worse. Weather started off cool in the morning but definitely picked up in the afternoon along with the bugs. Part of the PCT still has snow so you will have to go off trail a little and circumvent that area. Views were awesome up at top. Ran into 4 people at the top and 5 going down when I was heading up. Also did this as a Solo hike.
