Started off raining pretty hard this afternoon, definitely happy to have my hiking umbrella, as rain gear doesn't really work with how much I sweat and the humidity. We did this hike as a stop between Columbia and Asheville, with Congaree NP as our morning activity and this hike in the afternoon. We didn't see anyone else on the trail on the way up, but there were a couple backpackers at the summit with whom we had a nice chat. This was our 2nd of the 6pack, having done Brasstown Bald the day before, and the 5th state highpoint of our road trip. We had a nice jog on the way back down the car, completing the hike in 3 hrs round trip.
