Had a great adventure- hiked the Summit with my sister and her daughter. We had a late 9:15 am start, the first mile was full of mosquitoes. There are 16 trees that have fallen over the trail before you reach the lake junction. The skies were sadly very smoky and hazy but we could still see Diamond Peak, a few lakes, and a fuzzy view of the 3 sisters, broken top and mt bachelor. The trail is actually nicely shaded vast majority of the hike. We took our sweet time so it was an all day adventure. I would love to return to this peak in the fall before snow and with clear skies. We were the only people on the trail all day. No toilet and no water except a small creek on the lower trail.
