Belknap Crater is a very different trail, with most being in lava fields. At the beginning is a couple sweet small forests to trek through and then comes 1.6 miles of lava fields! After that you begin the climb to the summit mostly on sand and loose dirt. We found a fun alternate way down slip sliding away, thus the name of this post. It was great fun traversing down a very steep summit in deep sand!
