We arrived the day before to camp and was hot by a massive down pour around midnight. The lighting was fantastic and the thunder was booming, what an amazing night. The morning was still overcast and made a fantastic day for a hike. We are started out early and was surprised that there were cars in the parking lot already. The first mile was relatively easy just a slight incline, then the climbing began, but over all the mountain was spread over a distance and it made the hike very enjoyable with minimal stopping , just to mainly take pictures and enjoy the view. On the way up I was passed by a few trail runners, I am always amaze that they can run up a hill all the way at that pace. Once at the top the views were breath taking. Nobody was in the lookout, it would have been nice to see the view from there. I did peer at Humphrey's Peak, knowing that is my last mission for the summer. I stopped long enough at the top to eat a quick bite and the started heading down. The amount of people heading up was surprising, I didn't expect that many hikers. It is always nice to see family together enjoying the hike. Heading down was quick, I let gravity take over and since it wasn't to steep it was a nice journey all the way down. Once at the bottom, I noticed how the parking lot was now super full. I am glad people are enjoy the beauty of nature.
