Started at 7am and it was still very hot by the time we were coming down. So many flying insects that a mosquito net was absolutely necessary. The first two and a half miles were a relentless climb with very little shade. The rest of the hike was a mix of different trees and some shade. I did not take the ladder and rope to the highest point but thought the views from the old watchtower were awesome. This was a very challenging hike for me and when we finished our gps told us we had hiked 10.7, not 9.8.
