I have been staring at this mountain for a long time, so glad I finally got to climb it! There were 3 of us, one had not done a hike over 10,000 elevation before so we decided to camp at High Creek which I’m glad we did because he got sick at 9,000 ft. We started late in Saturday (9:45am) and had no problems parking at the trailhead although when we got there, 5 cars had been heavily vandalized! The first 2 miles wasn’t easy with our bags but wasn’t too bad either. Then, we had a beautiful, shady, gradual climb to High Creek Camp. Tons of water all the way to high Creek and plenty of spots left to camp. So happy we stopped here as this added to our fun! It was very cold at night but we were prepared. Summited the next morning. The switchbacks leaving High Creek were dreamy, they were long and not too steep, BEAUTIFUL lush trees with patches of light shining through. We were also happy not to have our heavy packs. The rest of the way is just up up up :). We went slowly and took it all in so we’d feel good at the top. It was gorgeous with perfect temps! We saw a couple other 6 peak challengers which was super fun! The way back to camp was easy and nonstop insane views. This entire trail was not hard on my knees. It’s long but so enjoyable. I cannot wait to do this one again!
