We started late in the day to avoid the heat, but realized a couple hours into it that we would be hiking back in the dark. We made summit an hour before sunset and started back. Bugs were definitely an annoyance to an otherwise beautiful day hiking. Made use of our headlamps and cell phone lights on way back in the dark. The trail changed after dark and animals noises were much more noticeable adding a unique element for our children. Caution: The road to trailhead was dirt, rough, but doable with 4-door sedan.
