A couple of hiking buddies and myself backpacked at round valley to hit this peak. It was quite a drive feom where we live and seemed a good idea to stay the night.
The weather forecast in Palm Springs was 3 digit hot but at over 8000 elevation it was actually cold during the night. This can be done in a day, like what we usually did in the past, but just to have a different experience, we stayed the night.
We summited on first day so no need to get up very early. As it was during the 4th of July weekend, wasn’t that much people.
