Cuyamaca Peak Summit

First time hiking to Cuyamaca Peak.  I was surprised by the abundance of shade.  The trail was beautiful.  The water was running fast in the creeks.  The way up is long with a gentle up slope that is comfortable over the six miles to the summit.  The final half-mile of paved road to the summit is the steepest section.  Enjoyed the colors of the ferns and a variety of pine trees.  There were a lot of small flies, mostly an annoyance, didn’t get any bug bites.  Wish I had worn my long pants, since parts of the trail are narrow with a lot of plant growth.  The upper section felt like hiking up an ancient river as it was large rock and gravel.  We hiked down the the paved fire road, this is a steep downhill.  A beautiful day, the high temperature was 83
