Humphreys Peak

I was finally able to get up to Flagstaff to him Humphreys Peak and all I can say is WOW!  It was very beautiful but very challenging for me.  I live in the Phoenix area and didn’t have much trouble with the other Flagstaff hikes with the elevation but the additional elevation on Humphreys was really noticeable and I found myself stopping to rest quite often.

It took us 3 hrs to hike the 3.8 miles to the saddle and took us almost two hours to go 1.2 miles to the summit due to the altitude (and the rugged terrain).   It was such an amazing feeling to reach the summit.  We spent about 40 minutes up there because the weather was so perfect.

total time start to finish was 8 hrs and 45 minutes.

I had already done 6 peaks because I did an alternate in case Humphreys didn’t work out but I’m so glad that it did!!
