My second attempt at Rose Peak was a success. After 9.14 miles I made it to Rose Peak in the Sunol Wilderness. The 30 lbs camping gear made this strenuous hike more challenging so reaching the peak was so rewarding. The winds were very strong at times that it would make me lose my balance at times as it pushed me to the side. I was the only one on the entire trail and I would even say that I was the only on on the entire park/wilderness. I started at 7:45AM and made it to the peak at 3:47PM. At times my calf would bother me so I took several breaks that lasted anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes to avoid re-injuring my calf. I sat at the peak for almost an hour watching taking in the view and breathing the cold and fresh air. I could clearly see Mt Diablo and Mt Hamilton in the distance. I loved watching the full moon rising when the sun has not yet gone down. My original plan was to camp overnight at Maggie's Half Acre campsite but I decided to head down and made it to the parking lot by 8:37PM.  This was my Thanksgiving celebration.
