We did the loop clockwise, as advised by the State Parks Ranger we met at the start.  Long hike for the short days of December, but we made it before the sun set. Not a lot of options for making a loop, but we chose a trail over a road when given the choice, like finishing on the Springs and Corral Trails.

Not much wildlife nor wildflowers at this time of year, but the creek water is crystal clear and the trees are pretty in the low, winter sunlight. Seemed like lots of signs now telling how far to Mt. Sizer, but then not a single one identifying it when you get there, so better know where you're going!  Well, it is a rather inconsequential spot to anyone not doing the 6 Pack of Peaks, I guess.

Our first delay was to free a cluster of mylar balloons that had miraculously become entangled in an oak directly over the Jackass Trail. Then another delay to ascend the bonus Jackass Peak – now that felt more like a peak, more prominent, albeit lower in elevation.
