We planned for a sunrise hike on Mission Peak, but the forecast was for cloudy so we thought we might as well sleep in, so we started around sunrise. Turned out, others reported seeing a good sunrise from the summit so a good reminder that weather up top can be different. It was nice weather for the climb up – cool and crisp with scattered cows, and a deer or two.
I had heard that vandals had torn down the InstaFamous Mission Peak Pole and that the park district wasn't going to put it back, but there it was when we reached the summit, ready for us to take our requisite pictures with it – even though the actual peak is 100yds away.
The hills were already starting to turn green from the early rainfall, even though it wasn't a lot. Some wildlife, including a nice tarantula on the trail back down – guess it hasn't gotten too cold yet.
