OMG was this an adventure! Started off with the road being closed to actually get to Baden-Powell, so we decided to park at Jackson Lake. We had to hike 5 miles over the mountain in order to even get to the Baden-Powell trailhead. It was a beautiful hike, though, so I can't complain. The Baden-Powell trail is now one of my favorites. It is very green and I am actually a big fan of switchbacks because it means less intense incline. Baden-Powell offers exactly that, so I loved it. Once we got to the top, though, it was VERY windy and SUPER cold. So cold that I didn't even want to take my photo. I just wanted to get up and get out. My fingertips felt like they were going to snap off. We made our way down the mountain and started to realize how late it was getting and also the fact that we had to go 5 more miles at the bottom in order to get back to our car at Jackson Lake. The thick fog started to roll in as well. I don't know how we got so lucky, but we ended up finishing the hike at the exact same time that a family was wrapping up their Big Horn Mine hike. They were able to get through the road closure. Apparently they opened up the road at noon. They were super kind and gave us a ride back to our car. I don't know how we would've made it back otherwise. Thank goodness for good people in the world and for the strike of luck that we had.
